THE Publishing yearling's dam Strange Aura caught the attention of trainer Stuart Kendrick when he was bought at the Magic Millions sale.

"I really liked the mare when she was racing,'' said Kendrick after that same Publishing offspring News Editor broke through at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday, July 29.

Strange Aura had six wins and four placings in a 23-start career for more than $170,000 in prize money.

News Editor is also now a winner, breaking through at his seventh career start, with four other placings.

Ridden by Tim Bell, the three-year-old gelding won at his first start over the mile.

Having placed over 1400m last start, he relished the extra ground, winning easily by two-and-a-quarter lengths as a $2.60 favourite.

"Patience is now paying off for his owners,'' said Kendrick.

"He's always shown ability. He's just been a little immature," he said.
