DENMAN gelding Deitch will be tried over a mile and maybe beyond after a strong breakthrough win over 1500m at Kilcoy.

"He was strong at the finish of 1500m so it opens up some option for him,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick after the four-year-old gelding's victory at Sunday, December 6.

Ridden by apprentice Tiffany Brooker, Deitch ($2.70-fav), a Darby Racing-syndicated galloper, won a Benchmark 58 (1500m) by three-quarter of a length.

"It was great to get a win on the board. He's been very consistent,'' said Kendrick.

"He had a wind operation after we bought him. The patience of the owner has paid off with a nice win,'' he said.

Deitch finished runner-up at the Sunshine Coast two starts back before a last-start fifth over 1400m at the Gold Coast.

He now has three wins and three placings from 12 career starts.
