BEL Esprit five-year-old Spirit Of The Dawn has earned a shot at Saturday metropolitan company after running his rivals off their legs in a midweek Doomben race.

Ridden by apprentice Tiffani Brooker, Spirit Of The Dawn ($2.70-fav) made it back-to-back wins and three from his past four in a Class 3 (1050m) on Wednesday, December 23.

"He won in record time and was well ridden again by Tiffani,'' Kendrick said.

"We will try to win a Saturday metro race with him now,'' he said.

After ducking down to New South Wales to win at Murwillumbah last start, Spirit Of The Dawn measured up to the city class race well.

He was untroubled in winning by one-and-a-half lengths, giving Brooker her first win in on a metropolitan track.

She is forging a good association with the horse, although she does not ride him in work as he can be a little headstrong.

But come race day, he just rolls along nicely.

Spirit Of The Dawn now has five wins and four placings from 17 career starts for more than $71,000 in prizemoney.
