TIME to mature and a change in riding tactics with Lady Denman is paying dividends.
The four-year-old Denman mare is now a city winner after upsetting an odds-on favourite in a set weights fillies and mares Class 3 (1100m) on Wednesday, June 1.
Ridden by apprentice Tiffani Brooker, Lady Denman ($12) finished fast to beat Magnus Cor ($1.80) by three-quarters of a length.
"She (Lady Denman) is starting to repay the faith we had in her early,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
"She showed a lot as a young horse but has taken time to mature," he said.
"We have also started riding her quietly and she is now finishing off strongly."
