PATIENCE is paying off for owners of The Inflamer.

The galloper, bought at the Sydney Classic sale in 2014 as a joint-venture between Kendrick Racing and Darby Racing, won his belated racetrack debut last Friday (July 29).

He'd had four barrier trials, with the first dating back to March last year.

"He's been plagued by immaturity injuries,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick after the satisfying win.

"He has always shown plenty of ability but because of his size we had to keep spelling him."

Ridden by Ryan Wiggins, The Inflamer ($6.50) scored a determined win in an Ipswich Maiden (1100m) in a close finish.

"He'd run second behind Le Chef in a jump-out leading into the race, so we expected a forward showing,'' Kendrick said.

"We will work him through his classes and hopefully he'll make a good city class horse now,'' he said.
