WELL-BRED two-year-old filly Marseille En Fleur has won her second city race in a row.
Ridden by apprentice Adam Sewell, Marseille En Fleur ($16) flew late to win a 2YO Fillies (1200m) at Doomben on Easter Saturday in a tight finish, with a bunch of runners stretched across the track.
Sewell rode her patiently off the speed and she responded with a strong finish to win by a short-neck.
It came after she broke through in a Doomben 2YO (1350m) on a heavy track on March 22.
Despite dropping back in distance for the win, trainer Stuart Kendrick is adamant she’ll be better over a longer trip.
“Her dam was an Oaks horse, so she should get over some ground,’’ he said.
“We freshened her up for this but we will probably give her another little break before deciding what to do.”
Marseille En Fleur was bred by Stuart Ramsey, of Turangga Farm.
She’s leased and raced by Kendrick Racing and long-time clients the Britt family.
