PROLIFIC city winner Rare Occurrence will chase some well-deserved black type after her stunning first-up win on Doomben 10,000 day.
The Star Witness three-year-old pulled off a betting plunge at double figure odds in a Class 6-SW (1100m) on Saturday, May 13.
Ridden a treat by apprentice Tiffani Brooker, Rare Occurrence ($11) raced handy and ran down Invincible Express to win by a length on a soft track at her first run since January.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said Rare Occurrence was one of the stable favourites and it was exciting to win on Doomben 10,000 day.
“The boys have all had a few dollars on her and have had a ball,’’ he said.
“They’re a really good bunch of owners.”
Rare Occurrence has now won five races in the city and Kendrick said connections would love to get some black type with her.
“It would be terrific and would put a bit more value on her,’’ he said.
“She’s got some nice breeding.”
Rare Occurrence loves Doomben, a track she won on at her racetrack debut.
She’s now won four of eight starts there.
