KENDRICK Racing's move to the Sunshine Coast is complete. And the stable left Mackay in top style when Mercury Jet won on debut last month. The Jet Spur gelding was placed with the stable and syndicated by Darby Racing after being bought at the Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast in 2011. The patience of connections was rewarded when he won his first career start in a Mackay Maiden (1200m).
Ridden by Adrian Coome, the three-year-old lived up to its track work and a lead-up jumpout, winning comfortably as $1.60 favourite. "It was great to win at the last Mackay meeting the stable had when still based in Mackay," said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
"It was also especially pleasing for the horse's connections, who have been happy to give him time," he said.
"Syndicators Scott Darby, of Darby Racing, and Ken King, of Ken King Thoroughbreds, have been really supportive of us in our move to south-east Queensland.
"Scott is currently syndicating Real Saga and Not A Single Doubt colts bought at the Magic Millions sale to be placed with Kendrick Racing.
"Ken King has some nice tried horses with our stable and is looking at syndicating a young horse in the future."
Kendrick and stable jockey Coome completed the move to Caloundra after Mercury Jet won in Mackay on February 9.
"All of the horses have now settled into their new surrounds," Kendrick said.
"Horses from the satellite stable we'd set up recently also transferred to Caloundra recently," he said.
"The facilities at Corbould Park, particularly the oncourse stables, are terrific.
"We have been hampered a bit by wet weather in recent weeks but I'm sure the horses will thrive here."
