IT always gives yearling purchasers added confidence when the breeder retains a share in the horse, especially when it is Gerry Harvey.

His judgement and that of other shareholders proved spot on when Beyondtheuniverse won on debut at the Gold Coast on Saturday, July 7.

The All Too Hard two-year-old filly is raced by Ross and Judy Cutts, of Showtime Breeding, themselves no strangers to breeding and racing success, Neil Douglas and Kendrick Racing, along with Harvey.

Ridden by Ben Looker, Beyondtheuniverse ($5.50) was an instant winner, coming off a runner-up effort in a trial to score at her first racetrack start in a 2YO Mdn-SW (1100m) on a heavy track.

“She’s a promising filly and did a great job first-up on a heavy track off the back of one trial,’’ said trainer Stuart Kendrick.

“She should improve as she gets over further.”
