KENDRICK Racing is celebrating its fifth Sunshine Coast training premiership in a row.
A double at the final Sunshine Coast race meeting of the season on Sunday, July 29, was a fitting end to 2017-18.
Scrabble ($2.35), ridden by Matthew McGillivray, got back in the winner’s stall, winning a Class 5 (1400m).
Moreska Sword ($4) then completed the double by winning the next, a Maiden (1400m), showing a good turn of foot after a 10-out-of-10 ride by Jim Byrne.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was a great way to end another successful season.
“We trained a treble here last weekend, so to finish off with five winners at the final two Sunshine Coast meetings was great,’’ he said.
Kendrick Racing also won five premierships in a row in Mackay before relocating back down south to the Sunshine Coast.
“To win 10 in the past decade and five in a row at the Sunshine Coast, which is a highly competitive provincial racing centre, is terrific,’’ Kendrick said.
“We have a wonderful team of staff and excellent owners behind us,’’ he said.
“A big thank you to all of them.”
