CONSISTENT mare Hingus Rose will not lay down.
Despite having to work from a wide gate, she fended off all challenges in the straight to win a Benchmark 75 (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, September 9.
“She’s hard to get past when she gets to the front,’’ said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
Ridden by Matthew McGillivray, Hingus Rose ($4.60) prevailed on the line, holding off a late lunge by runner-up So Skilled on the outside.
It was her first win since July, but she’d run two seconds in three starts since then before Sunday’s victory.
“She’s a very consistent mare,’’ said Kendrick.
