FIVE-YEAR-OLD mare Lips 'N' Hips would not be denied a well-deserved return to the winner's stall.

Ridden by Matthew McGillivray, she improved after an unlucky fourth last start to win a Class 3 Plate (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night, September 28.

Lips 'N' Hips ($4) raced up on the speed and kept kicking strongly to the line to score a narrow win.

"She's a tough little thing,'' trainer Stuart Kendrick said.

"Her last run was really good. She had no luck and we thought if she could get there today outside the leader she'd be hard to run down,'' he said.

"I was a bit worried about the 200 but she dug in and did a good job. It was good to see her back in a bit of form."

Lips 'N' Hips is owned by the Meldon family.

"Mark (Meldon) is very passionate about his horses and has a couple with me,'' Kendrick said.

"It was good to see him get a win tonight."
