LOHNRO colt Staying Black has run right up to his looks to break his maiden status and cap a winning treble for Kendrick Racing.
After earlier wins with Lips 'N' Hips and Mymming, Staying Black ($2.30-fav) got the job done, winning a Maiden (1300m) by one-and-a-quarter lengths on Friday night, September 28.
"He's a lovely colt,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick when he broke through at his third career start.
"He's a big, gross horse. He's always shown me plenty,' he said.
"He had no luck the other day. He had to do a fair bit of work.
"He lost a shoe and a few things didn't go right."
In contrast, everything went according to script at the Friday night meeting, with the horse winning well.
"He was bought for me in New Zealand at the Ready to Runs sales but the very astute bloodstock agent Andy Williams."
