NOT being able to sell In Moderation at Ready to Run sales looks to have been a blessing in disguise.
The Star Witness three-year-old has made a winning racetrack debut, with a determined victory in a Sunshine Coast Maiden (1300m) on Friday, October 26.
Ridden by Ryan Wiggins, In Moderation ($10) raced handy and looked to be under siege in the straight, but kept kicking all the way to the line to win his first career start.
"He did a good today. He never really got balanced in the straight but once he did he fought on really well," said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
"We actually bought him as a Ready to Run horse early days and we didn't get our money for him and kept him,'' he said..
"He did breeze up in good time back then. We always knew he would take a bit of time, so we tipped him out and we've taken our time with him
"It was good to win first-up. He's got a good pedigree and he's a good type Hopefully, he can go on from here."
