CONNECTIONS of Coral Bay are hoping he can emulate the feats of his full sister Banda Spice in the upcoming $100,000 Summer Series Provincial Final (1350m).
"Banda Spice won the same race a couple of years back,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
"She was also bred and owned by Ross and Judy Cutts,'' he said.
Both horses are by Show A Heart and out of Zilzie.
Coral Bay couldn't be more impressive heading into the final at Doomben in a fortnight.
He's unbeaten in three runs back from a spell, with the latest success coming in a heat of the Provincial Summer Series, a Benchmark 75 (1400m), at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, December 16.
Ridden by Damian Browne, who has been aboard for all three wins this preparation, Coral Bay ($3-fav) finished strongly to grab the win.
Despite being untried on a heavy track and being awkwardly positioned back in second-last at the turn, Coral Bay unleashed a brilliant finishing burst.
Browne steered a course out to the crown of the track and Coral Bay responded to arrive with a well-timed run.
