EL NINO five-year-old Mr Strachan's city win at Ipswich is a great reward for his owners.

"They bred him and have been very patient with him,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick.

Mr Strachan ($4.20) made it two wins in a row when he scored a determined victory by the narrowest of margins in a Class 5 (1200m) on Wednesday, April 10.

He edged out favourite Elusive Melody ($3.40) on the tight circuit.

"It was a tough win as he was annoyed the whole way,'' said Kendrick.

The win followed a home track victory over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast last start.

Ryan Wiggins was aboard the horse for both wins.

Mr Strachan now has six wins and six placings from 21 career starts.
