KENDRICK Racing has saddled up two quinellas at the one race meeting.
The quinellas, at the Sunshine Coast Friday night meeting on May 3, included Elegant Zous and Cabochon Lil in a F&M Maiden (1000m) before Striking Distance beat stablemate Raise An Army in a Class 1 (1200m).
"We've been having a great run in recent weeks and it was extremely satisfying to saddle up another double, especially as we filled the quinella in both races,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
"They were impressive wins by both horses and hopefully there are more wins ahead,'' he said.
Elegant Zous ($2.90), ridden by Daniel Griffin, sprung a minor upset, beating stablemate Cabochon Lil ($1.95-fav) by three-quarters of a length.
"Elegant Zous showed the benefits of a lengthy spell to win first-up," said Kendrick.
"She's a daughter of boom sire Zoustar and she did well to hold off her well-credentialled stablemate for a strong win,'' he said.
The Darby Racing-syndicated Striking Distance ($4.40), ridden by Ryan Wiggins, made it two wins and a second at three starts back from a spell with his two-and-three-quarter length over Raise An Army ($7).
"The big fella gave nothing else a chance after working to the front,'' he said.
