TRAINER Stuart Kendrick's pre-race assessment of Raiden's chances proved spot on when the five-year-old unleashed a stunning winning burst.

The Foxwedge gelding bolted in by three-and-three-quarter lengths in a Sunshine Coast Class 5 (1000m) on Sunday, May 19.

After Eric The Eel had won race one on the card, Kendrick summed up Raiden's chances in a post-race interview on Sky Channel.

He said he'd hit the line hard at his last start when fourth over the same course and distance.

"If he can be close enough to them in the run, I think he'll be hard to hold out."

That is exactly how the race panned out, with Raiden ($3.70), ridden by Dan Griffin, sitting just off the speed in the small field before pouncing in the straight to give the stable a winning double for the day.
