FILLY Stepped In Paint's city win at Doomben was a well-deserved reward for her owners.

"She cracked a bone in her back foot when getting broken in and needed nearly a year off,'' trainer Stuart Kendrick said after her victory in a Maiden (1100m) on Wednesday, June 19.

"It was a really satisfying win for her owners,'' he said.

Ridden by James Orman, Stepped In Paint ($11) broke through at her sixth career start after having previously run a couple of placings.

"She has run well but a gear change after her last start of earmuffs off and blinkers on made the difference,'' Kendrick said.

"She should win more on that effort,'' he said.
