WITH well-credentialled stablemate Tarzan out of the picture Misery, a consistent sprinter in his own right, took the chance to shine.
Misery ($3.10), ridden by Tiffani Brooker, scored a midweek city win when he won an Open (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday, July 17.
It was the same course and distance he finished secondbehind Tarzan last start.
Kendrick revealed he had initially planned to start bothhorses again in Wednesday’s race before deciding to not accept with Tarzan with one eye on a Sydney start for that horse.
Misery made the most of the absence of the 1000m Sunshine Coast course record holder with a good win.
“Misery deserved that win and I am really pleased for the owners,’’ Kendrick said.
“There is one thing Misery, he will try hard,’’ he said.
Misery has an impressive record of nine wins and nine placings from 29 starts.
Although his Sunshine Coast 1000m record isn’t as outstanding as Tarzan’s it is still fantastic, with five wins and five placings from 11 starts at the distance and circuit.
