THERE was some extra cheering for a Kendrick Racing double at Caloundra on Sunday (October 13) as the stable hosted its annual clients raceday.
“They’re a good bunch of people,’’ said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“We put this on every year for our owners. It’s a big day and they enjoy themselves,’’ he said.
“We’ve only got the two runners today, so to get two winners, you can’t ask for any more than that.”
The two winners included Rabbit Hunter and No Doubt Acracker, both ridden by Michael Cahill.
Rabbit Hunter ($2.70-fav) won a CG&E Benchmark 65 (1000m), with Cahill saving some ground on the inside at the turn
Kendrick admitted he was a bit worried near the top of the straight when another horse kicked away, but Rabbit Hunter had knuckled down to his task.
“It’s good to have Michael Cahill on. I think he just balanced him up around that turn a little bit and saved that ground,’’ he said.
Kendrick said Rabbit Hunter had been a little bit frustrating.
“He showed a lot of ability last time in. He just does a lot wrong,’’ he said.
“He cost himself last start as well.”
Kendrick said it was great to see him notch another win on Sunday and hopefully he could go on from here.
The stable completed the double when No Doubt Acracker ($4.20) won a F&M Benchmark 65 (1000m).
Kendrick said he had been confident if she replicated her work from earlier in the week on raceday she’d be hard to beat.
“Her work on Tuesday, I was just saying to the owners, was winning work,’’ said Kendrick.
“We’ve only had her for six weeks and she’s just thrived up here in the sun,’’ he said.
