FOUR-YEAR-OLD Tambo's Mate is putting in a strong audition for the summer sprints.
The gelding made it five wins from nine career starts with a determined victory at Eagle Farm on Saturday, October 12.
Ridden by Jim Byrne, Tambo's Mate ($2.40-fav) won a Benchmark 80 (1200m) in a close go.
"He will start in a Class 6 over 1200 metres again in two weeks back at Eagle Farm,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
"If he wins well we might aim at a couple of the good sprints over the summer,'' he said.
Tambo's Mate had finished second over 1100m at Doomben last start.
Saturday's win was his first start at Eagle farm.
